AMONG SAVAGES
Among Savages is American singer, songwriter, & producer Peter Barbee. Born in rural Appalachia in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains, he moved to Nashville at the age of 16 to pursue music. Barbee released his debut album, Wanderings Of An Illustrative Mind in 2012. He released his sophomore full-length, Accounts of Friend and Foe, in 2018 followed by tours in North America & Europe. Now he is adding finishing touches to his 3rd full length album, Between Two Kingdoms, set to begin releasing early 2025.
Peter has made significant contributions beyond his solo music, writing for a diverse array of artists including Kimbra, Mark Foster (Foster the People), The Lone Bellow, Felix Rauber, Madi Diaz, Natalie Prass, and Mikky Ekko. His collaborations extend to notable talents like Lars Horntveth (Jaga Jazzist, a-ha, Susanne Sundfør), Early James, Matthew Perryman Jones, and Daniel James (Paramore, Efterklang).
In addition to songwriting, Peter is a veteran in ad agency musical arrangements and scoring for TV and film. In 2019, he opened Firehouse n.2, his home studio just outside Nashville, where he serves as owner and head engineer. The studio is gaining recognition as a prime location for tracking projects, offering an inspiring alternative to the distractions of big city life.
He is currently splitting time between Kentucky and Berlin for the rest of 2024.
